First time is tricky–but a really terrific tent
I’d have loved even just a picture of this tent WITHOUT its rainfly so I could figure out where to put the bars and pulls. But there were no instructions and all the images had the rainfly on them so I couldn’t see how the poles were meant to go. Took 5 grown adults over an hour to set up the first time–and we are Scout Leaders, who have set up literally hundreds of tents in our lifetimes. Nothing was labeled, no instructions. So, I am posting a picture here of the tent without its rainfly so you can see how the poles go together. There are 6 rigid poles that are the same height and diameter that go on each corner with another two halfway down the sides of the tent. Then there are two similar poles that are just a bit smaller that go across both ends. Two of the flexible poles are super long and stretch from one corner to the other, across the whole tent, but have to be threaded through sleeves on top of the tent. And there are two smaller flexible poles that just cross at either end.Ok. The tent itself is terrific. I LOVE the awning/side option that allows you to make an awning–with screens open or closed–out of one end or zip it closed to add another room. Very clever. There’s also a sheet of fabric that allows you to divide the large room into two halves, which is nice when you have a couple kids you need to separate (if you know, you know). The windows on the bedroom side of things are a bit odd. If you don’t pull them out and stake them down (they tilt out) then they have a tendency to want to tip back into the tent, which isn’t great if it’s rainy. I know that sometimes we want to just stake down the corners and not run cords everywhere (tripping hazards and all that), but for the windows, you really do need to stake them down or they don’t work right. I love that an adult can stand up in this thing and not have to bend over, and all the zippers were protected by fabric to keep water out and zipped easily. And it wasn’t terrible to roll up and fit back in the tent bag.Now that we know how the tent goes together AND have labeled the different poles, the next time we set it up will go quicker, I’m sure.

Great for families
Finally, a tent I can actually stand up in. I have wanted one of these cabin style tents for a long time and it was worth the wait. This has two comfortable rooms. We use one for sleeping and the other for gear.I can’t say anything on how many people this would actually fit, but it worked for two adults and our little guy just fine.I did use a separate ground tarp underneath for a variety of reasons, but mostly to protect the bottom and keep it waterproof. In any case, set up was pretty tricky the first time we did it, but now it only takes a few minutes. The zippers and everything else work just great. The ventilation is excellent. We haven’t used it in the rain yet. I’ve been tempted to add more waterproofing, but haven’t done so at this point. The only real drawback to this tent is the weight. It’s heavy and that’s not too surprising it considering its size. It’s just not something I would take on a hike where you need to carry all of your gear for long distances. One of the main reasons I finally got the cabin style tent I wanted was the price point. It’s extremely reasonable for a tent this huge.

Room With A View
We set up this big family tent last weekend and once it was up it turned out to be a really nice setup. I’m kinda spoiled by those instant pop up tents so this one took a bit longer but the materials feel tougher and worth the extra work. The poles and fabric are solid and the zippers glide smooth without snagging. I liked how the side windows have little awnings so even when it rained we still got some airflow and could look out without getting soaked. Inside we fit a queen mattress plus a couple totes and small tables with plenty of room left to walk around. The porch area is great for boots and gear though you do have to stake it out tight. Overall it feels like a quality tent that should hold up to plenty of trips and the waterproofing worked fine during a steady rain. For the price I’d say it’s a really good value for anyone camping, with family or a big group you will only be able to use sleeping bags.
