Timeless detail

Gracing this gorgeous journal: A reproduction of a color woodblock print, ”Bullfinch and Cherry Tree,” by Japanese artist Katsusika Hokusai (1760-1849).

The print dates to about 1834, and is part of Hokusai’s ”Small Flowers” series. The text is a poem that reads:

One single bird, wet with dew,

Has come out:

The morning cherry.
